David W. Mitton

David Wade Mitton, 64, of Marion died February 29, 2012 unexpectedly at Tobey Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Dyer Mitton. Born in Boston, the son of the late Edward John Mitton and Carolyn Church Mitton, he lived in Charlestown, MA before moving to Marion in 1983. The extended Mitton family has resided in Marion since the 1920's. David was an explorer of the human spirit and a master of loving kindness. He was a devoted, gentle family man and a friend with a generous sense of humor. David enjoyed sailing, fishing, woodworking, reading and travel. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Holmes Mitton of Marion; a daughter, Mirya Wade Mitton Royal of Marion; a brother, Edward John Mitton, Jr. of Reisterstown, Maryland and Nantucket; a sister, Carolyn Mitton Ford of Boston and Marion; 2 grandsons, Aidan Wade Royal and Stefan Luke Royal; and many loving friends and extended family. His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 11 AM in St. Gabriel's Episcopal Chapel, 124 Front St. Marion.
