Charles McKinnon Obituary

Charles J. McKinnon Sr., of Marshfield, passed away on February 22, 2021, at the age of 74. Son of the late John B. and Regina M. (Mahoney) McKinnon; loving father of Julie DeGrenier (husband William) of Braintree, Leslie Iaria (husband David) of South Carolina, and Charles J. McKinnon Jr., of Marshfield; cherished grandfather of Gregory and Caroline Ford and Benjamin, Sarah, Grace, Erica, and Drew Iaria; dear brother of John McKinnon (wife Mary) of Duxbury, Christopher McKinnon (wife Patricia) of California, Eugene McKinnon of New Hampshire, and Mark McKinnon of Arlington. Charlie was raised in Belmont. He attended Northeastern University at night while he worked for the Mass. State Police and received his master's from WNEC. He was a member of the MSP dive team. He retired from the state police force, a Major, after 32 years of service. Charlie raised his family in Pembroke and later settled in Brant Rock. He loved the time he spent at his house on the ocean. He enjoyed his boat, biking the canal, kayaking, skiing, baking, afternoons on his porch, and happy hours at the yacht club. He had many friends, and his greatest joy was his 7 grandkids. Charlie was a quiet, reserved guy but touched the lives of all that he met. He will be sorely missed. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, in Marshfield. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in Charlie's memory can be made to the International Myeloma Foundation, by mail to 12650 Riverside Drive, Suite 206, North Hollywood, CA 91607 or online at myeloma.org.
