Charlie PETRIE

PETRIE - Charlie June 24, 1999 to October 25, 2014 After a brave battle with cancer Charlie passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 25, 2014 at Canuck Place in Vancouver. He was surrounded by the love and warmth of his family and friends. Charlie was born in Nanaimo, BC on June 24,1999. He was loved and adored by his mother Vicki Petrie and his father Keith Petrie. Charlie embraced his job as a big brother and was a wonderful role model for his younger brother Liam. Family was important to Charlie and he valued the time he spent with his mom, dad, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Charlie touched the lives of many, including friends and teachers from Village Park, Brooklyn Elementary and Highland Secondary School, as well as his Comox Valley Raiders teammates and coaches. Charlie had a soft spot for his pets and loved each and every one of his furry, feathered and scaly pals. Charlie had a strong spirit and embraced endless optimism. He was on a perpetual quest to make others laugh and smile while wearing a smile himself. He brought light into this world and he shared his light generously. Charlie had a very special way of weaving adventure into every day and he made every day 'worth it!' Special thanks are extended to the staff at Canuck Place who provided exceptional kindness and care, the staff at BC Children's Hospital, the nice folks at YANA and all the friends and family who were Charlie's Angels when he needed them most. All of these people were loving and supportive members of Team Charlie. Charlie's family will honour his life with a private celebration.
