James Boothroyd Obituary

James H. Boothroyd, 93, a lifelong May nard resident, died peacefully Fri. Oct. 30, 2015 at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham. He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline M. (Henry) Boothroyd, who died in 2014. Mr. Boothroyd is survived by a son, James H. Boothroyd, Jr. and his wife Kari of North Orange, MA; a daughter, Janine M. White and husband John of Millis, MA; grandchildren, Jessica Boothroyd, and Kyle, Taylor and Sean White; brothers, William, Paul and Donald Boothroyd, all of Maynard; a sister Joan Hyden of Sudbury; and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Marion, Dorothy and Naomi Boothroyd. Mr. Boothroyd was born and raised in Maynard, and was a graduate of Maynard High School. He served honorably in the US Army Air Forces as a Sergeant during WWII, and was a machinist for Hewlett-Packard for many years before retiring. Mr. Boothroyd loved to garden and operated a large greenhouse where he raised flowers to sell at the flower market in Boston. A member of the V.F.W. and the Knights of Columbus, he is remembered as a hard worker who enjoyed time at home with his family. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wed. Nov. 4th from 9:00-10:00am at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton, with funeral services to follow at the funeral home at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Great Road (Rte 117) Maynard. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the N.E. Center for Homeless Veterans, attn. Dear Boothroyd Family ... I am so saddened to read of the loss of James. He was a wonderful man and we had many a conversation here at Dunn Oil Company. We offer our condolences. I just now read this today - and am very sad to hear of this news. May the God of All Comfort - comfort your hearts. God Bless you all.
