Ronald Edwardsen Obituary

Ronald J. Edwardsen, Sr., 83, of Maynard and a native of Concord, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the beloved husband of 64 years of Barbara Mary (O'Toole) Edwardsen. Born in Concord and a graduate of the Concord schools, he was the son of the late Theodore A. Sr. and Lucille (Kennedy) Edwardsen. He was predeceased by his brother, Theodore A. Edwardsen, Jr., and two sisters, Lucretia Monson and Joanne Loynd.Following their marriage, Mr. Edwardsen and his wife settled in Maynard to raise their six children. An oil burner technician, he was a longtime former employee of Bursaw Gas and Oil of Acton. A family man, Mr. Edwardsen enjoyed trips to York Beach, Maine, loved his grandchildren and great-grandchild, and especially loved spending time with his beloved wife, Barbara. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Kathleen MacCulloch of Londonderry, NH, Nancy Daigle of Acton, MA, Ronald Edwardsen, Jr. of Leominster, MA, Richard Edwardsen of Kingston, NH, Michael Edwardsen of Maynard, and Barbara "Buffy" Durant of Sudbury, MA; 13 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law of the late Dorothy and Edward Ferguson. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 30th from 5:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 31st at 9:00am in St. Bridget's Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard, with burial following in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Great Road (Rte 117) Maynard. Those who wish may make memorial gifts in Mr. Edwardsen's name to the The American Lung Association of New England, 460 Totten Pond Rd #400, Waltham, MA 02451, also on-line at www.lung.org.
