Charles Stahley Obituary

Charles J. Stahley, Jr. 86 died peacefully on Monday October 17, 2011 at the Windham Terrace with his family at his side. Born and educated in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of Charles J. Stahley, Sr. and Helen (Sheehy). He was a graduate from Lawrence High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army, he received the Victory Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. For many years he was an engineer with General Electric and also the Raytheon Company. He was a swim coach with the Melrose and Cambridge YMCA. He enjoyed hiking, camping, the outdoors and exercising The widower of Gertrude V. (Dempsey) Stahley, he is survived by his children, Charles Stahley, III and his wife Helene of Atkinson, NH, Barbara A. Fagan and her husband William of Albany, NY, Jane Capozzo and her husband Joseph of Hudson, NH, Peter Stahley and his wife Dianne of San Antonio, TX, Mark Stahley and his wife Joanne of Exeter, NH, Marybeth Testagrossa and her husband Dennis of Amesbury, MA, Virginia Arenella and her husband Michael of Hudson, NH and Melanie Holloway and her husband Jerry of Derry, NH. 13 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and 1 niece. ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00p.m. | 8:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00a.m. in St. Monicas Church in Methuen, MA. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover, MA.
