As time passes the intense shock of Brian's sudden death seems to wane. Last spring we lost our Uncle Brian and his family held a service and gathering in early summer. While it was wonderful to see so many of our Douglas cousins and their families, it was striking to notice the dwindled numbers of McCarters and Wales. While I continue to think of Brian often, with various memories of him popping into mind for one reason or another, my grieving for his loss has subsided. I miss him, but I no longer grieve. I guess that is something to be grateful for.

I just found out about Brian´s passing. We were best of friends in our early teens and I lament that we lost touch. He was such a kind and gentle soul. I so enjoyed the many, many weekends I spent at his home with he and his whole family. His mom, Peg was such a hero in so many ways. A remarkable family, my belated condolences go out to them.

I worked with Brian at Regis College in the early 70's. I watched Aerosmith practice in his basement once, before they were famous. He was a good friend, and fun to work with. I offer my condolences to his family.

My brother and I met Brian when we signed up to be banquet waiters at the Marriott Copley. At that time Brian was the banquet captain .
We became very good friends and after I left Boston he stayed connected to my brother John and to my parents in Westport - Bob and Judy Sands
Brian's ability to see the best in everyone and in every situation is inspiring and a blessing to all who knew him.
Plus he loved his music - and his local musicians were a highlight of his life including my brother John Sands!
Brian - you are truly a light unto this crazy upside down world we live in right now.. please do your best to send some of your light and energy to us all who are still here trying to keep our sanity and save the Earth.
Blessings to you my friend - we will never forget your presence in our lives

I met Brian whilst working as an intern from England, at the Marriott, Copley Place. I was young and in a totally new country when I started working in Boston and I will always remember Brian for being so kind and helping me find my way in a totally new environment. He was very kind, thoughtful and compassionate and we need more people like Brian in this world. May god rest and bless his beautiful soul.

If Brian had a super power it was his ability to connect with people, often strangers he just happened to meet, and to form lasting friendships with them. He made friends while working at the Marriott, while sailing, in his favorite pubs, and through online support groups for people who had undergone open heart surgeries (Brian had four of them). He was also very loyal to his friends and has a remarkable number of friends from his grade school years. Please share how you met Brian and what struck you about him. Many thanks!
