Mildred Lafko Obituary

Mildred (Coates) Lafko, of West Newton died on Thurs Feb 7, 2013. She was 87. Born in Boston, Millie graduated from Brighton High School. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Creative Management Co. A resident of Newton for over 60 years, Millie was a longtime active visitor and volunteer at the Newton Senior Center in Newtonville. She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Am. Legion Post #40 in New London, NH. Millie was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Lafko, and is survived by her children Stephen J. and his fianc Colleen Garabedian of West Newton, Donna Lafko of Newton, John R. of Lovell, WY, Walter E. and his wife Lucille of Holliston, Regina Moody of Newton and Joseph P. and his wife Megan of Warren, her grandchildren Michael, Ryan, Boden, Nicole, Derek, Jarred, Timothy, Kristen, Savannah and Ainslie, and her great grandchildren Abigail and Charlie. Millie is also survived by her brothers Cecil Coates of Rockport, and Ronald Coates of Dover Foxcroft ME and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert, Maynard and Ralph Coates. Her funeral service will be held on Thurs Feb 14 at 11 AM in the Eliot Church of Newton 474 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home, 465 Centre St., Newton Corner, on Wed from 4-8 PM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Millie's name made to the Newton Senior Center, 345 Walnut St., Newton, MA 02460, would be appreciated.
