Richard Dunn Obituary

Richard A. Dunn, Sr., passed away peacefully following a brief illness in his East Sandwich home Monday, April 17th, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Dunn was born in Winchester, MA where he lived for 70 years before retiring to his new home on the Cape. He worked in sales for the family-owned business, Fish Pier Box Company of Boston. He later established Dunn Associates where he was President for over half a century. Richard Dunns father, the late Edmund L. Dunn of Winchester, retired as President of the New England Fish Exchange. His grandfather, Francis J. OHara, also of Winchester, operated fishing fleets out of Boston. Richard leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Irene M. (Longchamps) Dunn and five cherished children: Richard A. Dunn, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Randolph, Kathleen M. McDonald and her husband Thomas of South Easton, MA, Edmund M. Dunn and his wife Deborah of Victor, NY, Michael P. Dunn and his wife June of Lebanon, CT, Maureen A. Christie and her husband Ralph of Groveland, MA. Dear brother of the late Edmund L. Dunn, Jr., U.S. Navy, the first Winchester man killed in action in World War II, the late Robert G. Dunn, and the late Patricia Finnegan. Mr. Dunn, devoted grandfather of twelve, great-grandfather of four and uncle of many nieces and nephews, was known for his sense of humor and gentle heart. He was a member of the Winchester Council 201, Knights of Columbus and an avid boater who enjoyed his home in East Sandwich, MA on Cape Cod. A Funeral was held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., on Saturday, April 22, followed by a Mass at St. Marys Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Winchester. A gathering of friends and family, from as far away as California, was at the Woburn Country Club. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 2151, 501St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101-2151. www.stjude.org. He wasnt a good man, he was a great man.
