Robert Taylor Obituary

Robert (Bobby) Taylor, 66, passed away suddenly, in Las Vegas on December 6, 2010 from complications after hip surgery. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to his high school sweetheart, Sandra (Tisei) and loving father to Deanne Taylor, PhD of New Jersey and Bryan Taylor of East Dennis, MA and proud grandfather of four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Robert was the son of the late Alfred(Bill) and Rachel Taylor of Somerville. Born in Somerville Bob became a legendary all star athlete, and played football, baseball and basketball for Somerville High School. He attended the University of Massachusetts and played freshman football there. While pitching for American Legion Post 19 he helped Somerville win the New England regional title and a berth in the Legion World Series in 1962. During his three years of Legion ball he hurled five no-hitters and 22 one-hitters. He once pitched two no-hit games in one day. Bob was signed to his first professional contract by the then Kansas City Athletics in 1963. His biggest thrill in baseball was hitting a home run in Burlington Iowa in 1963. After five years in professional baseball, Bob decided to follow his father's footsteps and become a master pipefitter and supervisor in the construction trade where he was involved in the construction of several Boston landmark buildings. He and his family lived in Saugus for 35 years before retiring to Las Vegas, where Bob enjoyed his many friends, and golfing, once getting two hole- in-ones in one month. There will be a Celebration of his life on Saturday. April, 23 from 1pm to 5 pm at the VFW Hall, 1012 Mystic Ave. Medford, MA. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Please feel free to share any memories of Bob at Legacy.com.

Bobby Taylor - What can I say? For once I'm at a loss for words. The 2nd half of the "Taylor Twins" decided to take his flight. Well, as the saying goes "only the good die young" amd you were the best! I'll never forget how much you and Sandra helped me after Mark died. I'm so glad I got to spend some time with you and Sandra in September. I'll always remember how good you were too me and all the good times we had. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. Tell Mark I said hello and until we meet again save all your energy because once Sandra and I arrive...
I love and miss you

What can I say? Thanks for always getting up a 4am and getting me to hockey. For also stepping up and volunteering coaching my Little League and Hockey teams. I'll always remember weekend afternoons watching war movies and sporting events with you. I will miss your genuine laugh that would fill up a house. Thanks for always sticking by us (and working your butt off to provide for us) through all the tough times. Thanks for being a loving Grampy to Devan, Nathan and Katie. I love you. Your loving Son, Bryan.

My darling Bob, I and your children miss you so much. I have loved you for fifty one years and was so lucky to have you as my husband. You worked so hard and under sometimes harsh conditions to unselfishly provide for us. You gave us a good life. Thank you my sweet teddy bear. I will love you always.
