Harry Ainsworth Obituary

Harry A. Ainsworth of Sudbury, MA., died at the age of 84 on Monday, August 31, as the result of a stroke. He and his wife Mary J Ainsworth were married for 62 years. He was born April 17, 1931 in Grand Ledge, MI to Harry and Pauline Ainsworth. Harry proudly attended Michigan State University, achieving a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and was a Spartan fan for life. Designing power-generating facilities was his passion, and his career included working at Commonwealth Associates in Jackson, Michigan; Charles T Main and Parsons Power Group in Boston; Cereba Power Engineers; and independent consulting. A professional engineer, well respected in his field, and the recipient of numerous awards, Harry had opportunities to participate and lead national and international projects. He was a member of ASME for his entire career and a dedicated member of the ASME Power Piping Section Committee and Standards Committee from 1970 until his death. Harry was a 2nd lieutenant in the US Army. Harry is survived by his wife Mary; son Marcus Ainsworth (Janet) of Clinton, MA; daughter Teresa Todd (Al) of Anna-polis, MD; son Harry D Ainsworth (Diana) of Wakefield, MA; 7 grandchildren; and one great grandson. He was predeceased by one grandson. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose family was precious to him. Harry had a wry sense of humor, a drive for perfection, strong ethics, a love of family, a deep commitment to his faith, and a gentleness under his strength. Harry was an active member at St Elizabeths Episcopal Church in Sudbury. A celebration of his life will be on Saturday, September 12, 2:00pm at St Elizabeths Episcopal Church, One Morse Road, in Sudbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heifer International or to Project Bread: The Walk for Hunger.

We worked with Harry for over thirty years. As a man he was gentle, honorable and loved by All.

As an engineer he was the most talented and most respected By all. He mentored many young engineers who went on to successful careers. He will miss him and cherish his memories
