Harry A. Ainsworth

1931 - 2015

Harry A. Ainsworth of Sudbury, MA., died at the age of 84 on Monday, August 31, as the result of a stroke. He and his wife Mary J Ainsworth were married for 62 years. He was born April 17, 1931 in Grand Ledge, MI to Harry and Pauline Ainsworth. Harry proudly attended Michigan State University, achieving a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and was a Spartan fan for life. Designing power-generating facilities was his passion, and his career included working at Commonwealth Associates in Jackson, Michigan; Charles T Main and Parsons Power Group in Boston; Cereba Power Engineers; and independent consulting. A professional engineer, well respected in his field, and the recipient of numerous awards, Harry had opportunities to participate and lead national and international projects. He was a member of ASME for his entire career and a dedicated member of the ASME Power Piping Section Committee and Standards Committee from 1970 until his death. Harry was a 2nd lieutenant in the US Army. Harry is survived by his wife Mary; son Marcus Ainsworth (Janet) of Clinton, MA; daughter Teresa Todd (Al) of Anna-polis, MD; son Harry D Ainsworth (Diana) of Wakefield, MA; 7 grandchildren; and one great grandson. He was predeceased by one grandson. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose family was precious to him. Harry had a wry sense of humor, a drive for perfection, strong ethics, a love of family, a deep commitment to his faith, and a gentleness under his strength. Harry was an active member at St Elizabeths Episcopal Church in Sudbury. A celebration of his life will be on Saturday, September 12, 2:00pm at St Elizabeths Episcopal Church, One Morse Road, in Sudbury, MA.
