Janet M. Sforza

1958 - 2016

Janet Janny M. (McCurdy) Sforza, age 57, passed peacefully on April 30, 2016, at home, surrounded by the love of her family, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Weymouth, December 11, 1958, to the late William and E. Ann (McNamara) McCurdy. Raised and educated in Weymouth, Janet made her home in Rockland for the past 25 years. She formerly worked in international banking at State St. Bank in North Quincy. After operating her own quilting business, Janet worked for at the service desk for Stop & Shop in Abington for a brief time. Janny is survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard Sforza; the two sons whom she loved fiercely, Francis Sforza of Halifax and Bryan Sforza of Rockland. She was the beloved Nan to her two granddaughters, Jade Sforza of Rockland, Mia Sforza of Midland, Texas. Janny is also survived by her siblings, Kathy Deree and her husband Jim of Weymouth, Billy McCurdy and his wife Rita of Weymouth, Kenny McCurdy of Hanover and Lyn Sullivan and her husband Robert of Plymouth. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; too many friends to count; and a very special friend, Amanda Garcia, that Jan loved as her own. The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrate her life Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 6, 2016, at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janets name to the HUGS Foundation, 943 Brockton Avenue, Abington, MA 02351.
