Jared Quirk Obituary

Jared Lewis Quirk, 18, of Rockland, passed away suddenly on April 17, 2015, during his senior year class trip to Greece, surrounded by his closest friends and classmates. Jared was born and raised in Rockland. He was a senior at Rockland High School and an active member of Holy Family Church. Jared exuded happiness, a reflection of the foundational love and joy of his family. Always with a smile on his face, he put his quick wit and great sense of humor to work often, making everyone around him laugh. Jared loved, protected and took care of others. His compassion and kindness radiated through every conversation and interaction with him. He loved spending time with his extended family camping, skiing, snowmobiling, going to the beach and playing epic card and board games. Jared was an excellent student, a member of the National Honor Society and had been accepted at multiple universities. He loved sports, both playing and watching. A strong multi-sport athlete, Jared played basketball, golf, and baseball at Rockland High School. He was an avid Boston sports fan with a passion for discussing and debating sports statistics. Jared is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Regina (Lewis) Quirk; and his beloved brother, Ryan Quirk, a student at Boston College. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Richard and Maureen Lewis of Rockland, and Frank and Louise Quirk of Scituate. Jared is survived by a large close knit family that also includes many aunts, uncles and cousins, and by many dear friends. The Quirk family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Jared's life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 1, 2015, at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. Donations in his memory may be made to the Jared Lewis Quirk Scholarship, c/o Janet Guenet, 56 Broadmeadow Lane, Abington, MA 02351. The family appreciates the outpouring of support. It is comforting to know Jared touched so many people in such a positive way.
