Robert Lloyd Obituary

Robert Lloyd HANOVER Robert Francis Lloyd, 62, recently of Surry, ME, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2009. He was born to Mary Frances (Henderson) and William Wellington Lloyd in Brockton, MA, April 28, 1947. He was the maternal grandson of Harry and Mary (McCaffrey) Henderson late of Norwell, MA and paternal grandson of Alfred and Annie (Smith) Lloyd late of Hanover, MA. He is survived by his wife Catherine (Davis), and his four children, Derek Robert Lloyd of Hanover, MA, Joanna Davis, Timothy Lloyd and Robert Lloyd, all of Surry, ME. He was the beloved nephew to Ida Stoddard of Norwell, MA, and the loving brother of Beverly (Lloyd) Leate of Rockland, MA, William Lloyd of Woburn, MA, and sister-in-law Eileen Lloyd of Woburn, MA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and one grandson, Caden William Lloyd. He held many professions throughout his life before settling into his final trade as a skilled tile setter. In his younger days, Bob was an incredible sportsman, leading the Hanover Football Team as co-Captain as well as being an excellent baseball and basketball player. He graduated from Hanover High School in 1966. For the whole of his life, Bob was an avid Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and Celtics fan. Shortly after High School, he joined the Marine Corps, serving a tour in Vietnam as a Military Police Officer. He had been a longstanding member of the American Legion Josselyn-Cummings Post 149 and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Hanover until its closing. Although facing his own obstacles, Bob dedicated much of his adult life to helping others in need of support while battling addiction, a testament to his selflessness and unending generosity. His favorite pastimes included fishing and playing golf, having made many trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. He also had a great love of the ocean. Perhaps the place that Bob gave most of his heart, however, was Lambert Lake, ME, where he had vacationed regularly since his childhood. It is to this place, that his family will see him returned. To honor the memory of this great man, Bobs family will be hosting a Celebration of the Life of Robert Lloyd at the American Legion on King Street in Hanover, MA on Saturday, January 23, 2010 between the hours of 1 PM 5 PM. All friends and family are welcome to attend. Food, beverages, music, a video presentation and fond memories will be available for all to enjoy in his honor. If you have any questions regarding the event please call Roberts son Derek Lloyd at 781-871-0601 or e-mail him at: derek@battle groundgames.com
