Thomas Moseley Obituary

Thomas Clark Moseley, Jr., 58, of Weston, MA. died suddenly on March 16, 2016 while traveling for business in Saudi Arabia. He was founder and president of The Moseley Group, a strategy and design consultancy to the global multi unit restaurant industry. His contributions to the food service industry have been transformative and continue to fuel the way restaurants operate today. In the early 80's, he was among the first to move some of the largest restaurant brands into non traditional channels such as airports, colleges & universities. In the 90's, Moseley pioneered the kitchen technologies still relied on today by restaurants, as owners and licensors of impingement and rapid cook oven technologies. These innovations helped elevate the quality of hot fresh food offerings in the industry. More recently, he helped seasoned brands become more relevant as well as helped emerging brands optimize for expansion. He worked with over 100 high profile brands including Starbucks, McDonald's, Burger King as well as locals Cumberland Farms, Au Bon Pain, Dunkin Donuts and Legal Seafoods. Mr. Moseley was also founder and president of Moseley Realty LLC, a commercial real estate development firm based in Franklin, Ma. Thomas was raised throughout his childhood in Darien, CT. and attended Darien schools until high school. He graduated from the Westminster School in Simsbury, CT. where he was a captain of the hockey team and lettered in football and baseball. He spent two years at Lake Forrest where he played varsity hockey and then transferred to Boston University where he became an award winning Master Craftsman of Woodworking and Furniture Design and graduated with a de-gree in Philosophy. Mr. Moseley was also the owner of several patents throughout his career. In addition to his parents, Thomas C. Moseley Sr. And Elizabeth DeCoster Moseley of Woods Hole, MA., he is survived by his wife, Suzanne; his three children, Margot, Thomas III, and Frederick; three step-children, Madeleine, Caroline and Olivia; his sister Christine Milloff (Mark), sister Lisa Cole Moseley, and twin brother Peter (Lisa); eight nieces and nephews; four great nieces and nephews; and beloved pups Goose and Posie. Thomas was an avid golfer and competed and played on golf courses around the world with his friends, family and children including Woods Hole Golf Club where he was a member for over twenty years. He will be fondly remembered for his remarkable and adventuresome spirit in all he endeavored whether skippering boats on the high seas, traveling around the world for business and pleasure, or just spending time with the family and friends who loved him so. Visiting hours at the George F Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St (Rt.16), Wellesley, MA. on Friday, March 25th from 3-7pm and a Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 3pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Toms memory to the Westminster School at 995 Hop Meadow Street, Simsbury, Ct 06070. For directions and guestbook, gfdoherty.com.

We lost a friend and great man, but Tom's legacy will live on in our hearts and in every corner of the mill. He will most certainly be missed by all. I am just saddened not to be able to see my friend walk past my door with his pups every morning toward his office.
May god rest his soul and give his family and friends strength through this difficult time.
