Margaret Powers Obituary

Mrs. Margaret Alison" Powers, 91, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Weston, died Nov. 21, 2009. She was born May 1, 1918. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Ronald M. and Nancy of Pasadena, Calif., and Roger A. and Soledad of Venice, Fla.; grandchildren Michael and Keith Powers; and great-granddaughter Harmony Powers. Her husband, V. Raymond Powers, and a grandson, Mark R. Powers, predeceased her. Alison graduated from Somerville High and Tufts University. She was a member of the Olympic Swim Team and Olympic Committee. She was co-owner with her husband of both the Powers Nursery and Swim schools. She coached the girls swim team at Haden Recreation Center in Lexington, and was a four-term member of the Weston Recreation Committee. Alison was also an accomplished artist after her retirement and active member of the Venice Art League. A memorial service will take place Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at, 10:30 a.m., at First Parish Church in Weston.
