The reverend Manuela Munoz, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. She was well-known in Latin American countries because of her work as a religious leader. Together with her husband, the late Reverend Lucas Munoz, pastored at churches in Peru and Sacramento, where they established many churches, bible schools and community service organizations. In 1985 The Assemblies of God headquarters in the United States asked them to be missionaries in Peru. They eventually returned to this country in 1993. Rev. Manuela Munoz was the first woman to be ordained as a minister for the assemblies of God in South America. She was the Director of the Women's Missionary Council in Peru; she was a teacher in bible colleges and head of the organization called CADSA, a training institute that prepared Christian leaders throughout Latin America. Rev. Manuela Munoz, spoke internationally in churches throughout Europe, Latin American countries, United States, and most recently, in Japan, where she was invited to be the speaker at several religious events. The rev. Manuela Munoz is survived by her daughters Esther Lupian of Chino, Elizabeth Munoz of Las Vegas, Miriam Munoz-Paraskevas of Elk Grove; sons Henoch Munoz, Ruben Munoz, and Lucas Munoz of Elk Grove; eleven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. We thank our mother, for her love and care and for being a great teacher of life, serving as an unforgettable role model. Thank you from all of us and from all who benefited from her kindness.

Les estamos muy agradecidos por sus hermosos escritos llenos de amor y agradecimiento a nuestro Señor y Salvador por darnos unos Padres y Pastores como ellos que le sirvieron hasta que partieron con el Señor. Agradezco a la familia Muñoz Valdivia, por permitirme escribir unas lineas de agradecimiento a Dios por la gran bendicion de haber conocido a sus padres los Pastores Lucas y Manuela Muñoz, ellos me recibieron en el CENTRO EVANGELISTICO DE LAS ASAMBLEAS DE DIOS en Teodoro Cardenas 450 Santa Beatriz, Lima, donde fundaron la Iglesia un 20 de Setiembre de 1985, como no recordarlo tenia 14 años, cuando empezamos la obra en esta Iglesia.
Muchas personas recibieron a Cristo a traves de su ministerio y siguen hoy al Señor algunos somos obreros, hay líderes y muchos miembros que siguen adelante. Nuestros Pastores Muñoz, dejaron huellas imborrables de dedicacion y sus vidas reflejaron que no hay nada que pueda detener el avance del reino de Dios.
Los papis Lucas y Manuela, fueron como nuestros padres para mi hermana Janet y yo y de seguro para muchos, se me caen las lagrimas de agradecimiento por los sabios consehos que recibi y pongo en practica en mi vida y lo puedo compartir con los demas de que el Señor es real a traves de las personas.
Dios usa a sus siervos y pone su Espiritu Santo en los vasos receptivos y eso eran ellos para mi. Dios usandolos para formarnos.
GRACIAS DIOS POR HABERLOS CONOCIDO, POR EL HERMOSO CORAZON DE PASTOR QUE PUSISTE EN ELLOS, Y AHORA NOS TOCA DAR ESE AMOR QUE NOS ENSEÑASTE Y QUE JESUS PUSO PARA SER LUZ A MUCHAS PERSONAS.
HAY MUCHOS SIERVOS QUE LO DAN TODO POR EL SEÑOR, HAY QUE PREDICAR CON AMOR Y ENTREGA PORQUE LA VENIDA DEL SEÑOR ESTA CERCA.
NUNCA OLVIDARE EL CORO QUE PAPI LUCAS CANTABA EN LAS MINISTRACIONES YO QUIERO SER UN VASO PARA LA HONRA DEL SEÑOR, SEÑOR QUIEBRA MI VASO CON TU ESPIRITU SANTO, YO QUIERO SER UN VASO PARA LA GLORIA DEL SEÑOR.

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

Apreciados amigos y hermanos, por medio del presente mail queria compartirles el sensible fallecimiento de las Pastora Manuela Valdivia de Muñoz, ayer 09 de Julio en la noche=2
0partio con el Señor, se encontraba junto con su familia en California, Estados Unidos.
Siempre la recordaremos y estará en nuestros corazones porque ella ha dejado profundas huellas de ejemplo y entrega en la hermosa obra del Señor junto con su esposo el Pastor Lucas Muñoz Sachún, quienes levantaron varias obras en Lima, en el interior del país y exterior, el Señor los tiene en su presencia y los que quedamos seguimos trabajando teniendo en cuenta el gran ejemplo de tenacidad y perseverancia para extender el reino de los cielos.
Muchos conocemos la trayectoria y trabajo incansable de estos siervos, que lo dieron todo por el Señor y pastores pioneros en las Asambleas de Dios del Perú, nuestras oraciones para sus hijos, nietos y familiares.
Gracias a Dios en todo tiempo.

Estimados primos y sobrinos:
La tarde del deceso de la "Tia Manuela" estaba un poco apesadumbrado, no sabía por que. En horas de la noche llame a mis papas y me informaron que la tía había fallecido.
Tengo un buen recuerdo la Tia Manuela. Siempre a ella la ví al lado del "Tio Lucas", y además me llamo la atención su "humor medio sarcástico". Algunos primos y primas han sacado eso, (dicen de que lo que no se hurta se hereda).
Por lo que me cuentan mis papas también tuvo que cuidar a unas "alhajitas", pero ahora son personas de bien y que contribuyen a su comunidad de alguna u otra manera. La "hizo bien" y ese es su legado.
A veces uno no conoce la obra que una persona hace. Quizas por la distancia, pero he quedado realmente sorprendido por lo que la tía hizo cuando estuvo por aqui. Viajo por muchos lugares, además fue profesora, hizo docencia, y dejo "la palabra". Reitero. Realmente "si" hizo algo por todos nosotros.

Hola, Elizabeth!
Acabo de leer tu cartita. Te expreso mi simpatia sincera por el deceso de tu mamita. Como tu dices, gracias a Dios que esta en el cielo al lado de tu papi.
Que el Senhor te bendiga grandemente en estos momentos.
Yo todavia tengo a mi papi, quien reside en Miami FL, y a mi mami en Austin TX. Por su condicion fisica y mental, ella reside en una casa de reposo. Estoy con ella de 2 a 3 horas cada dia despues de mi trabajo. Gracias a Dios que puedo contar su companhia. Recientemente mi papi y yo nos reunimos en Lima y estuvimos juntos 3 semanas. No habiamos pasado tanto tiempo juntos desde que me gradue de la secundaria. Conoci a un monton de sus familiares (paternal y maternal) y esto fue una gran bendicion.

Hola Elizabeth,
Recien acabo de leer el correo que has enviado y me entero de la partida de tu mami, una linda persona que yo conoci a traves de mis visitas y viajes por Los Angeles. Es confortante saber que estuvo rodeada de mucho amor de parte de toda la familia. Ciertamente es un camino al que todos vamos a ir en algun momento que solo Dios sabe y mientras tanto debemos agradecerle la oportunidad de haber podido compartir y disfrutar la vida con nuestros seres queridos.
Te contare que mi mami sigue todavia en la Clinica recuperandose de tres intervenciones quirurgicas. Ingreso el 9 de mayo, por una operacion a la vesicula y luego derivo en dos operaciones mas. Hubo momentos dificiles pero que fueron superados con la ayuda de la oracion y bendicion de nuestro Señor porque no hay otra explicacion. Su estado fue muy grave y critico. Estuvo 54 dias en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos y ya lleva un mes en habitacion. Ella tiene 84 años y esta como un cristalito que demanda mayor cuidado y paciencia. Practicamente, estoy todo el tiempo con ella, porque me turno con mis hermanos y puedo asi en algunos momentos ir a casa y aprovecho para ver mis correos.
Bueno Elizabeth ya sabes que cuentas conmigo, con mi apoyo y mis oraciones por ti y toda tu familia, un beso.

No sabes la tranquilidad y la paz que transmiten tus palabras, porque es verdad, todas sabemos donde están "nuestros ángeles" y desde allí velan y cuidan de nosotros. Estoy muy agradecida por el mensaje enviado, realmente es una hermosa foto de la mami Manuela, estamos muy tristes porque ya no está aquí entre nosotros, hace algunos días converse en 3 ó 4 oportunidades con ella, tenía una voz muy dulce y tierna, le preguntaba que cuando venía al Perú y me decía que no sabía cuan do podía hacerlo, me imagino que uno de sus sueños era volver a venir al país que la vio nacer, pero muchas veces las cosas no son como uno las desea. Ahora quedamos muy tristes por su partida, a ella que la quisimos mucho, pero a la vez felices porque sabemos que está en la presencia de nuestro Dios, y eso nos da mucha conformidad de saber que fue a un lugar celestial, ella solo nos lleva un poquito la delantera, pero sé que es muy duro y difícil no tener ya a un ser tan querido y Amado como ella.
Realmente es un gusto muy grato el que me hayas enviado este hermoso mensaje con su fotografía, gracias a Dios tendré un lindo recuerdo de ella por este medio.
Deseo con mucho Amor que tengan mucha tranquilidad, aunque se que no es fácil pero los días que transcurran serán de un poquito más de sosiego para todos uds.

For you are a great woman and blessed are you and Dessie to have been able to spend the time with Abuelita. The bible says; Honor widows who are really widows. But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God. 1 Timothy 5:3-4
This isn't to puff you up but to lift you up. You repaid and gave selflessly and the Lord is very pleased but don't think that He doesn't see your pain. Although sometimes you may feel lonely He says He is your Father and He wants you to rest in Him just as it says in Matthew 11: 28-30
I love you and I have faith that the Lord will comfort you and give you the rest you so much deserve.

contacto con Miriam y la

cuando llegaban a Lima Perú,
siempre estuve con ellos y
realmente han sido unos
angeles Lucas y Manuela dos
grandes personajes, yo me
hago de la idea que ella
esta alli en su casa y
cualquier rarto me va a
llamar o yo la voy a llamar
de mi oficina (trabajo en la
Sede Nacional de Las
Asambleas de Dios del Perú),
se que no alcanzaría espacio
para hablar de ella y todos
los recuerdos. Muchas
bendiciones para Ud. que la
recuerdo tambien muchas
bendiciones en Cristo Dios
los bendijo grandemente por
tener una madre tan
maravillosa y muy especial y
siga sus pasos que hay mucho
por imitar a la mami Manuela.

Thanks for all the attention you gave me when I was there. I really enjoyed each moment because every minute with you was very valuable =) se que estas mucho mejor con el Tío Lucas y que siempre nos cuidaras como lo hacias aqui tambien :) te extraño, pero sé que estas a mi lado (: He aprendido muchas cosas mientras almorzabamos, son tantas que no podria enumerarlas, but I can summarize saying that you were an incredible person with many interesting stories to tell and I'm proud of having heard some of them.

Mami, I wrote to you in our language Spanish early today and it will take a while to be checked. Well, I have to tell you in English. Thank you for being the best Mother of the world. When I read again Psalms 31:10-31
That is you MAMI, BLESSED!!! How wonderful! Blessed WITHIN us YOUR CHILDREN, YOUR HUSBAND our FATHER Papi LUCAS and everyone that you touched on earth.
We experienced those blessing in our trip to Greece, in the airports, cities, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, in the markets...etc. you were blessed without knowing the people about you. What a charisma!. What an Angel!
It is true, Many women do noble things, but you surpassed them all. You are praised now in Heaven because you fear the Lord until the end. What an example.
What a lesson, legacy that you and our Father Papi Lucas left us. What a job you left us that we have to continue no matter what.
Mis 'Loquitos', without telling us anything you both trained each of us to follow your steps, continue your ministry that we did not know that the programs of Sendas de Liberacion in Radio Pacifico was listened in Japan, Europe and other remote places in the jungle and andes. Mami and Papi your prayers are in practice. I have some news, we your "pichones" are more united that ever, and we will continue this legacy with all our families, and peoplr that do not know the Lord 'pase lo que pase'.
Papis, we have a lot of work to continue with your ministry in Peru with our own professions, in our work sites, or in wherever we go.Our behaviors, characters and testimony will be as yours.
We feel both in our side very warm everyday.We are not alone.
"Mis Loquitos" as you called me since a while ago and I called you after that. I missed you humanly both a lot. and all my brothers and sisters tremendously too.
You left a big space that nobody will be able to replace. But you both are there and the friends still are with us.
Thank you for the constant love, lessons, taking care of us, giving us the best education and the best on everything close or far away on earth.
Thank you for dedicating to the Lord your grandchildren Matthew (chinito)and Joseph (peyito) for the love, crafts made by your hands Mami, for all the memories that our homes are fill with, for your open and sincere laugh, for being with us always very big in front of others confronting life, for your faith, for your protection, for being the firs teacher before school and for life, for your prayers on diffiult moments, on sickness or for the will of God on our lives, and much, much more..........
Te pasastes Loquita!!!! I know the most happy Angel in Heaven is around you, nuestro PAPA.
Now, to put on practice. sleeves up and work for others and for our families until we see each other again. I am waiting for that time.
You both will continue being blessed, still we are receiving good news from so many people from all over the world about your integrity, on the good friends, counselors, givers, pastors, fighters for the right things, following the commandments, the Word of God strictly as it is, and how your ministries affected peoples' lives.
A lot of great news.

Abuelita,
You have been a great inspiration to so many people including me. Your love thoughout the years has showed me the way we ought to live and walk in Gods love. When I told you that Jessica and I had joined the choir at church you told me to worship God until I die and you did just that. When I saw you July 1 I sang your favorite songs to you and you sang with me. You ment what you said and I will until I die as well. Thanks for your Godly love, strength, and musical influence in my life. Although I will miss you I know you are in the presence of the Lord rejoicing. I cant wait to see you their.

My name is Samuel Diaz. I did not have the pleasure to meet Rev. Manuela Munoz, however I have the fortune to be Lucas Munoz' new brother in law. I can see the spiritual foundations that Rev. Manuela taugth to her son. So in certain way I have the chance to meet part of her.
I thank God for her life, for her legacy to her sons and daughters and for the great formation that she inspired to her family, that will last for many generations, including Gaby, Lucas' wife, and the sons and daughters of this newly wed couple.
We pray with faith asking the Lord, in his infinite glory to receive Rev. Manuela Munoz' soul in his loving arms.

Abuelita
You taught me lifes goals. You taught me especially music. I remember when i started to play for my church, drums, and i knew you where the one for my accomplishment. Now that you have passed, i realized another goal i need to accomplish, and that is to be a worship leader, and i can defininlty see that in my future, and i just want to say thank you for always standing by my side, especially in this time. My audition is in less than a week, and you have no idea how excited i am. Thank you Very Much! Gracias para todo!!
