Michael J. Franklin

Michael J. Franklin, 41, of Quincy died Aug. 17, 2014 after a hard-fought battle with an aggressive form of cancer. A talented artist and Master Carpenter, Michael had the rare ability to create heirloom quality custom furniture complete with intricate and exotic inlaid woods, which grace many of the most prominent homes of New England and beyond. He enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, fishing, going to the movies and playing in an occasional poker tournament at Foxwoods with his brother, Brian, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Ames), in 2007. He was the devoted, long-time companion to Missy Madden, with whom he shared his home. Loving father of Emma Franklin of Tiverton R.I. He was the son of Albert W. Franklin Jr. of Abington, Brother of Albert Franklin, III of Quincy and Brian E. Franklin and his companion Megan Glavin of Quincy. Uncle of Sarah E. Franklin and William A. Franklin, both of Quincy. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Thursday, Aug. 21, from 3 6 p.m. at the Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St., Quincy Center, during which time a short wake service will be celebrated. Funeral and Burial arrangements are private.
