Raymond Neiland Obituary

Raymond E. Neiland, 93, of North Weymouth died on November 29, 2015. Born in Lowell, he was the son of James and Bridget (Critchley) Neiland. He was a graduate of Lowell High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Sonar Man First Class on board the USS George E. Badger, earning 10 Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Raymond was a Master Gas Fitter and later a dispatcher for the Boston Gas Company for 35 years. He was an amateur radio operator, earning an Amateur Extra Class License, and was very active in radio for many years. A member of St. Jeromes Parish since moving to Weymouth in 1952, Raymond volunteered for many years as an altar server and lector. He was proud of his volunteer service at Father Bills Place in Quincy. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mary (ORourke) Neiland; three sons, Raymond and his wife Michelle of Temecula, Calif., William and his longtime companion Dale Fulton of Stoneham, James of Weymouth; a daughter, Ann and her husband Robert of Middletown, N.J.; three grandsons, Daniel, Kenneth and Andrew; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Alexia. He was predeceased by his grandson, James. Funeral services will be held in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, North Weymouth. Burial will be held in Old North Cemetery in North Weymouth. I am sorry to hear of the passing of your
Dad. I have thought about both your Mom and Dad so many times. I miss seeing them walking hand in hand or sitting at one of their favorite spots in Lowes. My sincere sympathy to your family.

Sorry to hear of your father's passing, Ray. I was interested to read that he was born in Lowell as was my father who lived there until he married.Your father looks so familiar to me. Must have seen him at St.Jerome's.

My memories of ray and his wife Mary were always seeing them together and walking hand in hand. Always ran into them at Webb Park, Lowes, or Harbourlight Mall. Always togeth er. Lovely couple. My sympathies to their family. What a beautiful couple!

Bill, sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Many years ago I lived on Athens Street. Babysat a few times for you & your siblings. We met again many years later at the "Dunk" on Southern Artery in Quincy when I was married to the late Lt. Bob Kelley, QFD, Arson Investigator. My thoughts & prays are with you & and family.
