I am shocked and saddened to here of Russ's passing. I just found out from the Bently Observer. Russ and I attended Bentley and shared many fun filled non-accademic activities together. He was a wounderful person, although I haven't been in contact with him for many years I'll remember him through our college years and keep him and his family in my prayers.

I was completely shocked and saddened to learn of Russ's passing. Although I haven't been in contact with Russ for the past 6 or 7 years, he was a huge part of my younger years (starting from the first time I met him at 19) and my time at the Bank of Boston. I can't believe I will never again bump into him somewhere in Boston. He really was a nice guy and will be deeply missed. My sincere condolences to his family.

My name is Bob Smolko. Although I don't know much about Russ's personal life or his family, as a matter of fact I didn't even know his last name until now, but I would without reservation call Russ my friend. I was very sad to hear that Russ has physically left us. For many years I played basketball with a great bunch of guys on Monday nights in the Daugherty Gym in Brantree. Russ was one of those great guys. Russ was a good athelete and had a real feel for the game. You wanted Russ on your team. He was not only a fierce competiter but was a true sportsman. There are few people you could say "was liked by all" Russ was one of those guys. I haven't seen Russ for over 16 years as I had moved to Virginia. I know if we got together it would be like no more than a week had passed just another Monday night of hoops. Russ was most noted for his signature side arm sling shot. Anybody who played with him would understand what I am referencing. It looked a little funky but was extemely accurate. It was a true jump shot he actually left the ground not like some of us. I really have no words to express my sympathy. But what I can say is Russ was a great guy and however you are related you must be proud. Russ isn't gone but just living in quieter place. I know this because I haven't seen my friend Russ in over 16 years but he is still my god friend. God friend was a typo but I left it as maybe now he is my god friend as we all know he is in heaven. Another good friend of mine and Russ's (Bill Merrigan) is running in the Boston Marathon for the Dana Farber Cancer Research. I Sent a sponsorship to Billy to run in both Russ's memory and in his honor. I am proud to call
Russ my friend and will miss him.
If I can help in any way just call.
We have inducted Russ Baird into the "Monday Night Daugherty Gym Basketball Hall of Fame" in Braintree, Ma.

My Brother David and I played many games of basketball with Russ over the years. We fouled him many times and in heaven he's probably still claiming he never fouled us. May God bless Russ and his family. Dave and I were truly saddened to learn of his death. We are both running the Boston Marathon for Dana-Farber cancer research in April and will keep Russ in our thoughts and prayers along the way.

"So many great times with Russ in Newport and Boston! Lots of laughs! Most of us thought he would never get married - that he had "commitment issues" - - Really he was just looking for someone extraordinary. I'm so glad he found that in the end. Brigit - thank you for making our friend so very happy - and for taking care of him all this time."

I am saddened to hear that Russ has died. I grew up in So. Weymouth and Russ graduated high school a year ahead of me. His parents and my parents were friends. When I went to work for Bank of Boston, Russ was in the same department, having been hired the year before. He helped train me and we worked together for many years. Later I would run into him from time to time in Boston. Russ was a wonderful, caring, compassionate man and he had a dry wit that always made me laugh. Family was important. Russ was one of the good guys. My heartfelt sympthy goes out to the family. God bless you Russ.

I knew Russ as a co-worker. He provided me and everyone that he worked with a polite, understanding and gentle way. A good listener and mentor. A great man. My prayers go out to his wife and family. Rest in peace and God Bless.

I met Russ about 10 years ago. Although we didn't speak daily, he often made it a point to call and check on me and was always there if I needed a friend. Most importantly, he never judged, he only encouraged me to live up to my potential. That kind of friend is hard to find and I will miss him immensely. To the family, my deepest sympathies. To Bridget, I am so glad he found happiness and hope that you take comfort in knowing that you made him whole.
