ADVANCE - Mrs. Addie Mae Foster Carter, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Bermuda Village Health Care. She was born in Davie County, Oct. 14, 1911, to William Thomas and Bessie Chaplain Foster. She was a member of Mocks United Methodist Church where she was a member of United Methodist Women, the Jolly Sixties and was chairperson of church membership. She was member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Advance Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy L. Carter; two sisters, Flossie Foster and Katherine Owens; a brother, Robert Foster; and a stepgrandson, Gray Pierce. Surviving are stepchildren Hobert Carter and wife Peggy and Bill Carter and wife Linda, all of Advance, Thomasine Pierce Norman and husband Vernon and Ms. Irilla Neal, all of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Paul (Dot) Foster, Thurmand Foster and Roy (Esther) Foster, all of Mocksville; 11 stepgrandchildren; 22 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a very special niece, Shelby Nichols; a special stepgranddaughter, Lucille Hartman; and a special daughter-in-law, Linda Carter. The family would like to thank her caregivers at home, Frances Allen, Louise Potts and Ashley Hartman, the staff at Bermuda Village Health Care and Clemmons Family Practice and Dr. Suzanne Hess. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Mocks United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Bob Symanski. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Mocks United Methodist Church, 523 Beauchamp Road, Advance, NC 27006 or to the charity of the donor's choice. (Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel)
