Anna Mitchell Obituary

Mrs. Anna Hudspeth Mitchell, a resident of Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community, and formerly of Marmion Street, Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005. Mrs. Mitchell was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Alexandria, Iowa, to Henry Walter Hudspeth and Delia Branon Hudspeth. She attended Salem College, and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. For the past 13 years, she had lived at Salemtowne, where she was very active and participated in many activities and loved to help others. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius A. Mitchell, in 1990, and by a son, Charles A. Mitchell. She is survived by a daughter, Dee Anne Fortescue, and husband William of Davie County; a son, Jerry W. Mitchell, and wife Elizabeth of North Wilkesboro; a sister, Mabel Tucker of River Landing in Colfax; 10 grandchildren, Jackie F. Biesecker, William Scott Fortescue, Mitchell W. Fortescue, Jason D. Mitchell, Sterlyn Mitchell, Kirk Mitchell, Jason Laws, Steve Mitchell, Laurie Fulton and Devlin McNeil; and 13 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 21, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Norwood Green and the Rev. Kevin Conley officiating. Memorials may be made to Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community, 1000 Salemtowne Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27106; or to a charity of the donor's choice. (Vogler & Sons Main Street)
