NORTH WILKESBORO - Mr. Charles E. Summers Sr. age 71, of North Wilkesboro died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel, with the Rev. Sleve Snipes officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Summers was born Aug. 23, 1935, to Harry L. and Emma Gentry Summers. He retired from Lowes Cos. after 30 years and was a member of the North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sue Mathis Summers of the home; three sons, Charles E. Summers Jr., John C. Summers and wife Rosie, James M. Summers and wife Angela, all of North Wilkesboro; three sisters, Dorthy Deal and husband Lee of Bristol, Tenn., Betty Kilby and husband A. L. of North Wilkesboro, Rita Foster of Moravian Falls; two brothers, Harry Summers and wife Imma Dean of Fleetwood and Bill Summers and wife Sherry of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Adam Summers and wife, Randee, Ashley Summers and Caitlyn Summers; and a great-granddaughter, Alla Summers. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
