Charles Watson Obituary

Charles Watson, Sr.

Feb 12, 1943 - Jul 3, 2024

Mr. Charles Thomas Watson Sr., age 81, of Pinnacle, passed away on July 3, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born on February 12, 1943, to the late Glenn Harold Watson and Ophelia Boyles Watson.

Charles said the best decision he ever made was on September 4, 1965, when he married Joyce Priddy. He said his second-best decision was to move to Pinnacle and open his own business.

Mr. Watson opened the Pinnacle Sandwich Shop on Tuesday, May 14, 1967.

Charles spoke of the happiest day of his life being the day his son was born on September 20, 1973.

Charles felt he was surely blessed to have a wonderful wife for 58 years and although he had many trials throughout the years, he was thankful to the Lord for his life. He joined the Pinnacle United Methodist Church in August of 1957 and stated he done his best to live a Christian life and support the church in any way he could.

Charles was a boy scout for Troop 27, now known as Troop 400; he was the only charter member of the Pinnacle Lions Club that was organized on June 1, 1971. He coached and refereed basketball with the Lions Club at Pinnacle School for the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade.

Charles volunteered at Pinnacle School and the children would read to him; he helped organize Crime Stoppers in Stokes County. He would also call basketball games at various schools (Shoals, King, Nancy Reynolds, and Pilot Elementary) and loved to pick blackberries, blueberries and give them to others.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce Priddy Watson; sister, Carol Watson Warden; niece, Sheri Bradley (Paul); great-niece, Brooke Hall; great-niece, Ashley Bradley.

Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Harold "Sug" Watson and Clara Ophelia "Pig" Watson; one sister, Glenda Watson Bowen; son, Charles Thomas Watson Jr.

A funeral service will be conducted July 8, 2024, at Pinnacle United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Martin and Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., at the church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Charles wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who worked for him for many years at the Pinnacle Sandwich Shop from his inside help to his curb boys.
