Daniel McLeod "Mac " Culp, III, 45, passed away on Saturday July 31, 2021. Mac was born in Atlanta on October 17, 1975 to Elisabeth Dupont Culp and Daniel McLeod Culp, Jr. In addition to his parents, Mac is survived by his son, Daniel McLeod Culp, IV of New Jersey, and his brother, Peter Warner Culp of California. He is also survived by beloved aunts, uncles and cousins with whom he created warm and loving relationships. Mac was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth Durland Dupont and Pierre Radford Dupont, and his paternal grandparents, Dorothy Cain Culp and Daniel McLeod Culp.

Mac attended Charlotte Country Day School, Summit School, Reynolds High School and graduated from North Carolina State University.

Mac was an avid reader across multiple genres and had a passion for and eclectic taste in music. Camping and fishing with his son was a source of great joy. Mac loved to bird hunt and especially enjoyed many father and son hunting trips over the years.

Mac was a caring and compassionate friend, his tender heart allowed him to empathize and relate to anyone. He could be counted on to help a friend and go the extra mile. The twinkle in his eye, the smile that could light up a room, and his sweet soul will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. For the safety of everyone attending the service, face masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Mac's honor to St Paul's Episcopal Church, 520 Summit St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or the charity of your choice. Condolences may be made online at www.salemfh.com.

I´m so very sorry for the loss of Mac. He was a friend since Summit and we had been in touch throughout the years. He always made me laugh and smile. He got me through some really tough times and was always there for me. My daughter, Isobel, and his son hung out on several occasions to the point of her giving him her favorite bear "star bear." He loved his son so much and was a great dad. One of the last times Mac and I hung out, I stepped down wrong in flip flops resulting in surgery. I think of him whenever I look at that scar. Mac will be missed by so many because he had such a beautiful spirit and kind soul. I believe his positive energy will live on. Once again, I´m so sorry. This is way too soon for him to be gone. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Culp,

I don´t know if you will remember me, but I spent lots of time at your house in the `90s. Mac was a good friend to me. When I had to move to Atlanta between my Sophomore and Junior years in High School, Mac made it a point to stay in touch with me. He always made me smile. We would do the "Black Tango of Death" in the front yard every time I would leave your home. He always let me know I was appreciated and loved. I only hope he knew I felt the same. When he visited me in my home in Concord, and I told him I wanted to get rid of my rose bushes, he called you Mrs. Culp and had you tell me what to do and how to make them beautiful again. He came to see me when my younger son broke he femur and made me feel less alone. He was a good man and he will be missed because he was deeply loved. My heart is heavy with his loss. I will keep you all in my thoughts and hope that peace at his passing may someday be found.
