Doris Sims Obituary

SIMS WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Doris Virginia King Sims, 81, took her peaceful journey on Nov., 26, 2008 at the Kate Bitting Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in W-S, NC on Nov. 11, 1927; she was the daughter of the late George David and Estella Richardson King. Mrs Doris V. Sims attended Atkins High School and Winston-Salem Teachers college. She later married the love of her life, Mr. Demanuel D. Sims, and to this union, one daughter was born. She became a faithful member of Union Chapel Baptist Church at a young age under Minister W.P. Clark. She was a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, a missionary, member of the Pastor Aide Society, Deaconess Board and youth department director. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Mr. Demanuel D. Sims; daughter, Mrs. Diane V. Foxworth (John D. Foxworth), three grandchildren, A. John Foxworth, Chanel D. Foxworth and Jamar Foxworth. She leaves one living brother, Mr. Marcus Richardson (Mattie Richardson) and one living sister, Mrs. Carolyn Moore. She leaves behind many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Funeral Services will be conducted 12 noon, Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 from Union Chapel Baptist Church, where Pastor Konnie G. Robinson will officiate and interment to follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will recieve friends from 11 til 12 noon at the Church prior to the services. The remains may be viewed today, Nov. 28, 2008 from 2 til 6 p.m. at Douthit' s. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
