MAYODAN - Harry Watt Lemons, 81, formerly of 127 Turner Road, Mayodan, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Britthaven of Madison. Mr. Lemons was born March 30, 1925, in Henry County, Va., to the late Frank and Mollie Craddock Lemons. He was retired from the Town of Mayodan with 20 years of service and had previously worked 20 years for Washington Mills, Inc. He was a longtime member of Mayodan Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. He dedicated his life to visiting shut-ins, the sick and residents in nursing homes, and he enjoyed gardening and sharing his crop with friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Angie Wavie Case Lemons; brothers Avery, James, Luther, Robert, Howard and Dewey Lemons; and sisters Ellen Brown, Estelle Lemons and Kate Black. Survivors include son Gary Lemons and wife, Carol, of Madison; sisters Eunice Adkins of Mayodan and Garnett Dalton of Walnut Cove; grandchildren Alicia Landreth, Shannon Dallas, Susan Baynes, Chris Lemons and Cody Lemons; and great-grandchildren Deanna Dallas, Jacob and Hanna Dallas, Chance Landreth, Taylor Landreth and Peyton Baynes. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Colonial Funeral Home, with the Revs. Bruce Martin and John Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 27, at the funeral home, and at the Mayodan Pentecostal Holiness Church parsonage after committal at the grave. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.

Harry was the sweetest person I have ever met. He was a joy to talk to and a walking testimony to what a Christian is. His love for God would light him up like a candle. He will surely be missed.
