KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Herbert Fredrick Schardt Sr., 85, of 229 Silver Creek Trail died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1918, in St. Louis, the son of the late John Henry Schardt and Adele Staehle. He was a member of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. He was a loving father and husband. He will be missed greatly. Surviving are his wife, Genevieve Jenkins Schardt of the home; a daughter, Christine A. Schardt of Kernersville; two sons, Herbert F. Schardt Jr. of Birmingham, Ala., and Richard A. Schardt of Kernersville; and three grandchildren, Burt and Heather of Florida and Amanda Schardt of Raleigh. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Hayworth-Miller-Cain Chapel, by Pastor Jim McDaniels. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning before the service. Burial will follow in Mount Gur Cemetery.
