Bell, Hugh Miller

April 26, 1935 - August 15, 2022

Hamptonville - Mr. Hugh Miller Bell, 87, passed away peacefully at the Yadkin Nursing Care Center, on August 15, 2022. He was born in Hamptonville, NC, on April 26, 1935, to the late Hugh S. Bell and Lillian Miller Bell. In addition to his parents, Hugh Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Clanton Bell; and niece, Dawn Bell.

Hugh Miller is survived by his son, Darren Hugh Bell (Karen); grandchildren, Brandon Bell, Joshua Bell, Kallie Bell; and stepgranddaughter, Kayla Griffin. Also surviving are his brother, J. Luther Bell, Sr. (Jeanette); sister, Margaret Ann Bryant (Charles); nephews, Tony Bell, Joe Bell, Jeffrey Bryant; and niece, Laura Bell.

Hugh Miller was a longtime tobacco farmer and dairy farmer. He also raised black angus beef cattle and was employed in equipment sales at the Farm Service Center of Hamptonville, Inc. and B & J Farm Supply. Hugh Miller was always known as an excellent "horse trader" and was a master wood worker, building furniture and several grandfather clocks for family and friends. He was a lifelong member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at Flat Rock Baptist Church in Hamptonville with Dr. Joey Tomlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at the Yadkin Nursing Care Center who provided supportive and loving care to Hugh Miller during his extended stay at the facility.

The family would welcome flowers or in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Flat Rock Baptist Church, P.O. Box 267, Hamptonville, NC 27020, Attn: Cemetery Fund.

Hugh was a sweet man I enjoyed talking with him he always knew when we has having a bad day we all called him papa I would help him when he need something and I always went and got him his coffee when he needed more he will be missed by so any. Fly high papa I sure do miss you and your talks we all love you
