GREENWOOD, S.C. - Mr. John William Lipscomb of 2220 Montague Ave., Greenwood departed this life Friday, July 23, 2004, in that city. He was a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., and a resident of Greenwood for more than 16 years. Mr. Lipscomb was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a salesman with Quality Chrysler of Greenwood for more than 10 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Lipscomb was an avid sportsman, enjoying golf in particular. Surviving are his wife of the home, Teresa M. Lipscomb; two daughters, Talisha Cooper of Iraq and Johnette Lipscomb; three sons, John Lipscomb Jr. of Gulfport, Miss., and John Michael Lipscomb and John Charles Lipscomb, both of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Lipscomb and Evonie Smith, both of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Charlie Lipscomb of Gaffney, Samuel Lipscomb of Greensboro, N.C., and Odell (Sharon) Lipscomb of Reidsville, N.C.; an aunt, Claratine Overby of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at noon Friday, July 30, in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home with Minister Odell Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening, July 29, at the funeral home and other times may be contacted at the home of a sister, Sarah Lipscomb, 2419 Patterson Ave., Winston-Salem, N.C.
