John Mack Poindexter, III was born on April 7, 1946 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Mildred Ridley Poindexter and John Mack Poindexter, Jr. John departed his earthly home early in the morning on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Johnny Mack was a 1964 graduate of John W. Paisley High School and attended North Carolina A&T State University. Johnny Mack married Linda Joyce Gould on August 20, 1966 and to this union 3 children were born. Johnny Mack worked at McLean Trucking, R.J. Reynolds and as a lab technician for 28 years for Schlitz Brewing Company, which became Stroh's Brewery. After the closing of Stroh's, he worked several years for the City of Winston-Salem, Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and the Red Cross. Johnny Mack was a Gold Star Member of First Baptist Church and the Winston-Salem Sportsmen's Club. Johnny Mack is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 56 years, Linda, his children John Mack IV "Johnny," Marcus and April (Keith) McBride; beloved grandsons, Keith and Amare McBride, god grandson Latrez McCollum and his granddog Bentley; his brother, George (Vernell) Poindexter of Oxon Hill, MD; in-laws: James Berkley (Penelope) Gould of Hamlet, NC, Herbert (Mildred) Gould of Bennettsville, SC and Lisa Lash of the city; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Highland Avenue. The family will greet friends at 10 a.m. Interment in Gardens of Memory.
