Joseph Reich Obituary

Reich, Joseph Rodney

January 4, 1962 - January 25, 2022

Mr. Joseph "Joey" Rodney Reich, age 60, passed suddenly at his home on January 25, 2022. Joey was born on January 4, 1962, at Baptist Hospital to Rodney Earle Reich and Jane Routh Reich. He was preceded in death by a dear friend, Jan Laster, and his beloved Aunt and NASCAR buddy, Rita Carper Reich. Joey is survived by his parents, his adoring sister, Jill Reich, his brother-in-law Marc Schatell, a special friend Braden Laster, and a multitude of cousins. Joey graduated from East Forsyth High School and attended NC State University. Joey was an audio/visual installer and technician and was known as one of the best in the field. He worked for 21 years for Long Communications, 14 years for Joe Davidson Audio/Visual Installations, then finished his career at Strategic Connections until health problems forced him to resign. Joey was quick to laughter and his smile and wit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was an avid reader, rock n' roll music aficionado and collector, and NASCAR fan to his core. Joey had a talent for building models of most anything and had a passion for LEGOs. Joey grew up in Trinity Moravian Church and always considered Trinity his church. As a young boy he sang in the junior choir and was a proud member of Boy Scout Troop 716 at Trinity Moravian. He was a member of the Trinity youth fellowship that organized the first "Crosswalk" that is held every Easter.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Moravian Church, 220 E Sprague Street, Winston-Salem, 27127 at 2pm on Saturday January 29th, with the Reverend John Jackman presiding. Due to COVID-19 all attendees are requested to wear a face mask. There will be a wake following the service at the home of Jill Reich. The family requests that any memorials be made to Trinity Moravian Church, or to WFDD, 1834 Wake Forest Rd. #8850, Winston-Salem, NC 27109, which Joey listened to practically 24 hours a day. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Reich. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.

I have many fond memories of Joey. He and my mother were good friends. He and I played video games together and talked racing.

He had a lasting impact on everyone he met. Much love to the Reich family.

I lived next door to Joey on Dartmoor St and he was always there for me. I loved him so much and I was a bad friend because I didn't know he had passed away because I hadn't tried to call to check on him until today. I am so sorry for you loss.

So Sorry to hear about Joey's passing. I worked with Joey at Long Communiations for 16 years. He was a very talented and likeable person and always had a smile and a quick wit about him. I know that he will be missed by all.
