KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Michael J. Hubbard of Kalamazoo died Saturday, June 12, 2004. Michael was born Dec. 8, 1950, in New York, N.Y., the son of Dr. William N. and Elizabeth (Terleski) Hubbard Jr. He was a graduate of Ann Arbor High School and attended Columbia College in New York, and graduated from the University of Michigan. He was also a graduate of the law school of Marquette University, and was a member of the Bar of the State of Michigan. An outdoors enthusiast, Michael enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Nature Conservancy. He was a member of the golf team in school and maintained that interest as well. With a deep social conscience, he served frequently as a court-appointed defense attorney. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Hubbard, in 1984. Michael is survived by his father and stepmother, Dr. William and Joyce Hubbard of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a brother, W.N. (Julia Laue) Hubbard of Sausalito, Calif.; sisters, Mariah H. Dodd of Kamuela, Hawaii, Anne H. (Floyd "Buz") Mattson of Eugene, Ore., and Susan H. (Glenn) Farquhar of Andover, Mass; a stepsister, Shannon N. Wixson of Kalamazoo, Mich.; eight nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Evelyn H. Wilson of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem. Interment will be at Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston-Salem. Those wishing to make lasting gifts in Michael's memory are asked to remember the American Diabetes Assoc-iation. Michael's father, Dr. William N. Hubbard Jr. grew up in Winston-Salem, having attended the West End United Methodist Church, later Centenary United Methodist Church. Dr. Hubbard graduated from Wiley Junior High School and attended R. J. Reynolds High School for two years before moving to New York.
