Mikey Cauthen Obituary

Mikey Cauthen

Dec 9, 1951 - Nov 28, 2024

Mikey Huffman Cauthen, 72, of Kernersville, NC, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born on December 9, 1951, in Newton, NC, to the late Yates Burton and Willa Mae Huffman. Mikey graduated from Gardner-Webb University and had various roles in the legal field, finishing her career as a paralegal at Wake Forest University for over 20 years. Mikey found great joy in traveling with her friends, playing rook with three other couples, and being involved in various church activities. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved cooking for her family and greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially cheering them on in their sporting events and other activities. Mikey was a Christian who loved her Lord. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville for close to 50 years. In addition to her parents, Mikey was preceded in death by three sisters, Gwen Plonk, Betty Moose and Peggy Bumgardner. Mikey is survived by her loving husband of over 55 years, Larry Cauthen; son, Michael Cauthen; and three grandchildren, Ellie, Aidan, and Olivia of Winston-Salem, NC; and sister, Gail Fish of Maiden, NC.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Kernersville. The family will receive friends starting at 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mikey's name can be made to First Baptist Church backpack mission and general fund.

Condolences is the family and friends of Mikey. I worked for a short period of time (approximately six weeks) with Mikey at a law firm in Kernersville towards the end of 1988. Although our paths never crossed again, I would remember her fondly. Although there are individuals who come into our lives briefly, the fact that they remain in our thoughts and hearts for years to come, says a lot about the character of that individual. Mikey was one of those individuals.
