Ola Speas Obituary

SPEAS READING - Ola Mae (Horne) Speas, 89, Reading, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, March 6, 2011, in Manor Care Health Services, Sinking Spring. She was the widow of Troy S. Speas, who passed away Feb. 9, 2007. They were married in 1941 and she was a devoted wife until his death. Born September 18, 1921, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late David and Leona (Carpenter) Horne. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Reading, where she served as past president of the usher ministry. She was a past daughter ruler of Mary Alice Temple #108, Reading. She is survived by her niece, Aldora Horne, and nephews, Paul Horne, Jr. and Cortney Horne, all of Reading; in-laws: Jay and Loyla Speas and Esther Reed, and devoted nieces Ola Mae Lee, Naomi McBride many nieces and nephews, all in North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her siblings: two sisters Catherine Horne Bradley, Ethel Horne Lee; and one brother David Lee Horne. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at Gilmore Memorial Chapel the Dr. Nelson McCall will officiate and the family will receive friends 11:30 in the chapel. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Family may be contact at 2905 Bon Air Ave the residence of Ola Mae Lee (niece). Arrangements entrusted to Gilmore Funeral Home Service (Gilmore).
