Peter Coker Obituary

COKER WINSTON-SALEM - Peter Warren Coker, amazing husband, father and friend to many, died at home on Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Peter had been a traveler for many years, and had made a home in Winston-Salem with his wife and daughter. He had a passion for electronics, as well as the outdoors, and spent many long days working on both. Peter loved his family and his friends knew they could depend on him. Peter leaves his love and hope behind with his wife, Anastasia Smith Coker; his beloved daughter, Elana-Rose Sophia; and a second baby due in September. He is also survived by his parents, Mark and Laura Coker of Winston-Salem; two grandmothers in Texas, Mary Evelyn Coker and Charlene Groves; and many other loved aunts, uncles and cousins across the country. A Memorial Service is to be held in his honor at 2 p.m., April 1, 2009 at River Oaks Community Church in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coker Family Education Fund, PO Box 572, Lewisville, NC 27023. Please make checks out to Barry Smith, Administrator.

Hi Laurie and Mark,
When it is all said and done and everyone has gone, reflect on the beauty that Peter brought to you all, the life he lived, the joy of becoming grandparents, his child a relection of his life and the love he found.

May God continue to comfort and keep you all.

Dear Mark, Laurie, and Ian, We were shocked and saddened to read Peter's obit this morning. Whatever happened? I know we've been out of touch in recent years but I think of you all often. Peter was such a bright, personable young man, and such a good friend to Loren while we lived near one another. And he was just a little younger than Loren, whose 30th birthday is today. I seem to recall Peter's birthday is in April and he would be 27 turning 28; am I right? I'm so glad he got to experience marriage and fatherhood. I will never forget him or the rest of you. May God bless you and comfort you in this loss.
Love, Kathy, Frank, and Loren Meyer

I will really miss Peter. I can't express my feelings very well at this moment since im still heart broken. However I wish the very best for Anna and their children. I really enjoyed working with Peter and hanging out with him and his wife while I got to. Both very wonderful people. We had not talked much in the past year, but I saw him just a few weeks ago and I am glad for that at least. I am terribly sorry to the family for their loss. I know it has to be hard and I hope you all get through it strong. Once again I hope for the very best.

-Whitnie.
