Regina Walters Obituary
October 5, 1915 - April 21, 2022
Regina Walters, better known to family as Mama Jean, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2022. She will be reunited with her son Stephen and beloved husband Reginald, who she missed desperately. Mama Jean was the youngest of seven children. Her mother, Rakel, immigrated from Norway in the late 1800's and her father Helmuth immigrated from Sweden. Helmuth was murdered in Brooklyn, NY when she was a year old. Mama Jean graduated from high school and attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She spent summers on the Jersey shore where her family owned a summer house. This began one of the joys of her life, swimming. She was a published author, appearing in Reader's Digest and the Winston-Salem Journal. She was a faithful member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church (loving all members there). Surviving family includes her son, Jack Walters (Nikki) of Thomasville, NC; two daughters, Jill Walters and Susan Simpson both of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Regi Ahearn (Brendan) and Ian Simpson (Ceci) both of Charlotte, NC, Patrick Godwin Jr. (Karen) of Roxboro, NC, Adam Walters (Emily) of Miami, Fl, Scott Walters and Jeannette McNamara (Matt) both of Thomasville, NC, Joseph Walters (Shannon) of Stumpy Pt., NC and Katie Marcella (Pierre) of Raleigh, NC; one niece, Judy Kilkelly (Brian) of Conyers, GA; two nephews, Robert and Arthur Christy (Pat) of New York; and a myriad of great-grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the staff at Brookdale Reynolda for the loving care she (Grandma) received the last few years. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, with Rev. John Rights officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Donations in her memory may be sent to Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, 3401 Konnoak Drive, Winston-Salem 27127. Dear Susan and family,
A more proper note to your home, but want to tell you after reading your Mom´s obituary, we easily know where your enthusiasm originated! Beth let us know of her passing and sorry to miss funeral , out of town. You were the finest nurse Bruce could ever hope to have at his side seeing patients at WSHC. Know that your marvelous Mama lives on in your precious memories! Your Mama´s photo is adorable, a picture of a life well lived. Peace be with you and your family now and always.
