Ruby Smith Obituary

Mrs. Ruby Lorraine Smith, 94, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born July 19, 1911, in Yadkin County to Henry and Pearl Royal. Mrs. Smith was the oldest living member of Southside Baptist Church, where for a number of years she made the costumes for their annual living nativity scene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles A. Smith; three sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include a son, William Smith and wife, Delores, of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Phyllis Johnson and husband, Charles, of Franklinton; a grandson, Donald G. Smith and wife, Vickie, of Clemmons; four great-grandchildren, Melissa, Michelle, Taylor and Leeanna Smith of Clemmons; three sisters, Kate Royal, Betty Tilley and Evelyn Wilson; two brothers, Jim Royal and wife, Joe, and Clarance Royal; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel, by the Rev. Max Furr and Pastor David Frankenfield. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, April 9. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
