Ruth Foster Obituary

CAPE CARTERET - Ruth Harmon Foster, 67, of Cape Carteret, beloved wife of James R. "Sonny" Foster, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 30, 2004, after courageously fighting cancer for a year. She had retired from Blowing Rock Medical Clinic as a nurse after 38 years of devoted service. She was an avid flower and bird watcher. She and her husband, "Sonny," had just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her sisters, Zola Cook and husband, Grant, of Boone, Beulah Cannon and husband, Hencil, of Charlotte and Thelma Cornett of Bethel; a brother, Donald Harmon and wife, Barbara, of Lenoir; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and a nephew. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City with the Rev. Ruth Underwood officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Hospice of Carteret County, P.O. Box 1818, Morehead City, NC 28557 or the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834. Online condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected]. Arrangements are in the care of Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. of Morehead City.
