June 30, 1947 - August 3, 2025
Mr. Thomas Burke Craver, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully from complications related to Parkinson's Disease on Sunday, August 3, 2025. He was the son of the late Thomas Burke Craver, Sr. and Edna Buchanan Craver and was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly DeChiaro. Born in Guilford County, NC, Tom spent his formative years in Mountain Lakes, NJ. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UNC Chapel Hill in 1969, where he was a proud member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. He went on to earn an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1971 as well as became a CPA in 1993. Over the course of his career, he worked in finance for various companies, retiring in 2016 as the CFO of Lyndon Steel Company. Tom will be fondly remembered for his witty intelligence, love of all sports (Go Tar Heels!), his passion for puns and proper grammar, and most of all, his ability to make others laugh. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Dize Craver; daughters, Sarah Hayden (Chris), Meredith Walton (Rob), Ashley Craver; grandchildren, Finn & Levi Hayden and Natalie & Aubrey Walton; and his brother, James D. Craver. A service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Indeed, his sense of humor was delightful. His dry, intelligent wit made Tom a great social companion. He also was smart as a whip, yet down to earth - very. Perhaps a testament to Tom's memorableness is that I remember him so well though it's been well over 20 years since I've seen him.
