Jose Hernandez Obituary

Jose De Jesus Fuentes Hernandez

June 16, 1982 - July 4, 2024

Jose De Jesus Fuentes Hernandez, age 42, died on Thursday, July 4, 2024 in Columbus. Jesus was born on June 16, 1982 to Jose De Jesus Fuentes Ruiz and Ma. Teresa Hernandez Camarena in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. Named after his father, Jesus also took on the roles of caring for his family and carrying his father's legacy, becoming the man of the home and working hard so that his family would never go without any of their needs. He kept this up throughout his entire life, and with anyone that he met.

Jesus immigrated to the United States when he was 15 years old. He lived in Northern Colorado before moving to Wisconsin to fulfill his dream of becoming a business owner. He opened Tequilas Bar and Grill in March of 2020, and even though it was the height of the pandemic, he found great success with his hard work. This success started a chain reaction, and as of today he has four restaurants in Wisconsin and one in Minnesota that he is a part of. He loved to work, loved to see his businesses thriving, and most important, he loved being a part of the Columbus community. A very hospitable and charitable man, his customers became friends and friends became family. With everything that Jesus had accomplished over the years, he would always tell you with pride that his greatest achievement is his son, Brayden. Jesus and Brayden enjoyed going to wrestling matches and sporting events together, and were inseparable. Family and friends will remember him as a wonderful and devoted father, loving son, brother, uncle, and a friend to all.

He is survived by his son, Brayden Fuentes of Columbus, WI; mother, Ma. Teresa (Tello Chavez) Hernandez Camarena of Platteville, CO; brothers: Jorge (Laura) Fuentes of Manuel Doblado, Guanajuato, Mexico and Juan (Alexandra) Fuentes of Sussex, WI; niece Roselin; nephew Johnny; cousins Fabian (Sandra Porras) Arzate and Ernesto Arellano; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose De Jesus Fuentes Ruiz; grandparents, Pantaleon Hernandez; Concepcion Camarena; Luis Fuentes; Carmen Ruiz and Abigail Fuentes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at ST. JEROME CATHOLIC CHURCH, Columbus. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at JENSEN FUNERAL & CREMATION, Columbus.

A special thank you to the Columbus Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff's Office and Emergency Response Team, Columbus Fire Department, Lifestar EMS, and all of the other area agencies and teams that so quickly and kindly offered their assistance. Another special thank you to the community of Columbus for the warmth and love that has been extended to our family in this time of sorrow.

A memorial fund is set up for Brayden at Farmers & Merchants Union Bank. There are also donation cans set up at Tequilas Bar and Grill.
