Wilma A. Lenz

COLUMBUS - Wilma A. Lenz, 97, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at The Meadows of Fall River.

Wilma was born on August 17, 1926 in Columbus to William F. and Anna T. (Kietzmann) Selk. She graduated from Rio High School as Valedictorian and later graduated from UW-Madison School of Nursing.

Wilma practiced as an RN for 35 years at the Columbus Community Hospital. On October 9, 1948, Wilma was married to Edward E. Lenz at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. He preceded her in death in 1989. She later married Frederick Raith on February 29, 1992 at Zion Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Wilma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Columbus where she was a member of Ladies Aid for over 50 years. She was a member of the Columbus Hospital Volunteers for over 25 years.

Wilma taught fitness classes at the Columbus Senior Center for many years. She valued exercise and reading and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Wilma enjoyed traveling and was able to travel around the U.S. as well as Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Wilma is survived by her sons: Gerald E. "Jerry" (Wanda) Lenz of Sheboygan and Roger E. (Diane) Lenz of Columbus; three stepchildren: Chris (Ray) Byrne of Oregon, WI, Frederick (Cheryl) Raith of Madison, and Peggy (Gary) Lewellyn of Columbus; three grandchildren: Benjamin (Carmen) Lenz of CT, Elizabeth "Elsa" (Scott Kothe) Lenz-Kothe of WA, and David Lenz of Algonquin, IL; seven step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; son, Marvin K. Lenz; twins: James and John in infancy; her brothers: Sturley Selk and Willis in infancy; three sisters: Ada Sneddon, Bernice Schwoch, and Avis Pribbenow; grandson, Michael Lenz; and a grandson in infancy.

A visitation will be held at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Ben Zuberbier will officiate. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.
