Clarence Devine Obituary
Clarence A. "Andy" Devine, age 91, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI passed away, Monday, October 23, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau, WI.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Fr. William Menzel and Fr. Robert Streveler will officiate. Visitation will be at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday and Saturday at the Church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Marshfield, WI.
Andy was born December 19, 1925 in Marshfield, WI to John and Anna (Fischer) Devine, where he worked on the family farm until attending college. Later, this farm was subdivided and is known as Devine Subdivision in Marshfield. Andy earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and became a civil engineer for the Department of Transportation for 42 years retiring in 1993. Andy married Marilyn A. Miller on August 6, 1955 in Adams, WI.
Andy was a former member of the Toastmasters; was active at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, where he was a lector; after retirement became an active member at the YMCA; loved traveling, where he traveled to all 50 states and 52 countries; enjoyed reading, playing cards and going to the casinos; was proud of his Irish descent; and especially loved spending time with his family. Andy and Marilyn wintered in Palm Springs, CA for the past 10 years.
Andy is survived by his wife, Marilyn; five sons, John (Terri) Devine of New Berlin, WI, Jim (Mary) Devine of New Berlin, WI, Larry (Kathryn) Devine of Wauwatosa, WI, Dan (Lori) Devine of Ottawa, IL and Tom (Cinda) Devine of Chugiak, Alaska; 14 grandchildren, Nicole Devine, Andy Devine, Kristi Devine, Kaitlan Devine, Kelly (Dan) Rogutich, Brynn Devine, Kevin Devine, Carey Devine, Amy Devine, Jamey Devine, Allison Devine, Katey Devine, Lauren Devine and Victoria Devine; sister-in-law, Gloria Miller of Elm Grove, WI; brother-in-law, Jim (Joan) Miller of Texas. Andy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, brother, George Devine, sister-in-law, Barbara Devine and brother-in-law, Jack Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be designated to Assumption High School or to St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

Ive only known Andy since, well 20 yrs now. Didnt know him really well, but then i did because i got to know his youngest son Tom real well. The courage and livelihood that embodies this family can only come from one source. My deepest sympathy to all the Devines with the passing of Andy. He will be deeply missed.
