Gary Roach Obituary

Gary Alan Roach, 55, of 11320 Deer Ridge Road, Town of Saratoga, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gary was born in Wisconsin Rapids on Jan. 29, 1956, to Louis and Florence (VanRuth) Roach. He graduated from Lincoln High School, and married Kathy (Turner) on July 10, 1976, in Wisconsin Rapids. Gary worked in sales in heating and cooling supply.

He was kind, caring and a good father and friend who was always willing to help in the time of need. He loved to tinker and was very good at whatever project he took on. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying four-wheeling, ice fishing, deer hunting and riding his Harley.

Gary is survived by his wife Kathy, Wisconsin Rapids; son, Brian (Kim) Roach, Stevens Point; daughter, Sara (Mac) Johnson, Oshkosh; granddaughter, Mya; brother, Tom (Beth) Roach; sister, Linda Tessar; sisters-in-law, Pam (Lyle) Allison and Lori (Rusty) Miller; brother-in-law, John Turner; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, John and Anna VanRuth; and paternal grandparents, Cyril and Blanche Roach.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home; and from 1 p.m. until the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.

A special thank you goes to the doctors, nurses and staff of the UW-Riverview Cancer Center and to Ministry Home Care Hospice for their compassionate care of Gary and his family.

Your determination, strength and courage is an inspiration to us all.
