Wisconsin Rapids - Leo F. Weinfurter, age 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Cranberry Court Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Philip's Catholic Church, Rudolph, WI. Fr. Dave Bruener will officiate. Visitation will be at St. Philip's Church on Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post #485 of Rudolph. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.

Leo was born October 29, 1934 in Sherry, WI to Ignatz and Anna (Altman) Weinfurter. He married Kathleen A. Meyer on September 30, 1978 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Leo was employed at Georgia Pacific for 39 years retiring in 1994.

Leo served in the U.S. Army from March 1954 until February 1956. He was a member of the American Legion Post #485 of Rudolph, WI. Leo loved farming, collecting treasures and spending time with his family and friends.

Leo is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Michael (Colleen) Weinfurter of Carbondale, CO, James Weinfurter of Rudolph, WI, Lori (Alan) Van Asten of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Nancy Lowrey of Broken Arrow, OK, Kathy (Mark) Meronek of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Susan (Kevin) Leece of Shorewood, IL, Kevin (Darlene) Weinfurter of Junction City, WI, Deb Drollinger of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Lisa (Ken) Pabelick of Montello, WI, Richard (Amy) Lechner of Vesper, WI and Randal (Wendy) Lechner of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 24 grandchildren, Bob, Candice, Samantha, Lisa, Christopher, Holly, Ryan, Josh, James, Nathan, Matthew, Traci, Christopher, Carl, Alexandria, Alyssa, Chad, Anthony, Perry, Tara, Zachary, Devon, Morgan and Benjamin; 11 great grandchildren; brother, LaVerne (Joan) Weinfurter of Sherry, WI; two sisters, Evelyn Dobbs of Junction City, WI and Violet (Richard) Zabel of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and brother & sister-in-law, Kent and Barbara Meyer of Bruce, WI.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Carl, Raymond, Sylvester and Hilary; 7 sisters, Ida Klawikowski, Rita Kundinger, Mary Cummings, Virgiline See, Helen Capek, Bernice Schroedel and infant sister Delores; son-in-law, Jay Lowrey and father & mother-in-law, Henry and Margaret Meyer.
