I never met Father but I was in contact with him many times over the years. I just learned of his death this week and was very sad to learn of it. I am an Assistant Archivist for the Diocese of Green Bay and he was extremely helpful to me both privately and with patrons. I always could always honestly say to patrons - "Contact Fr. Altmann. He is very nice and will do all he can to help you." It's been a while since I had been in contact him but I will miss him. He was a wonderful person. May he rest in peace. Kris Beisser Matthies

Father Bob was a brilliant and dedicated priest and I feel privileged to have been his friend. From Sherry/Blenker to
La Crosse, WI we stayed in contact. Father was the priest at my wedding, he baptized my children, he played golf and bowled with me, we discussed issues together as school principals and we had a warm conversation on the day he departed this life. My family extends condolences to Frederick, Betty Ann and his nieces. He will be missed by all of us.

His vast memory helped me to locate the information that I was seeking, He was always going out of his way. I am thankful for having known him. My sympathy to his family. May He go with Our Lord.
