Andrew K. Funk

MORAVIA: Andrew K. Funk, 64 of Old Salt Rd., passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse. He was born April 15, 1961, in Norwich, a son of the late Willard S. and Mary E. (Maynard) Funk. He graduated from Sherburne-Earlville High School class of 1979; received his A.A.S. degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and Biomedical Engineering Technology from Monroe County Community College, Rochester; his B.S. degree in Biology and Secondary Education from SUNY Cortland; and held teaching certifications, 7 - 12 in Biology, General Sciences and Secondary Mathematics. He was trained in Becton Dickinson FAC SCAN Flow Cytometer Repair, Olympus Microscope Service, Bloom Electrophysiology Laboratory Service and Puritan Bennett 7200 Ventilator Service. He had been employed as Sr. Biomedical Engineering Technician at SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse; a Teaching Substitute in grades 7 – 12 at Moravia and Skaneateles Schools; R&D and Video Electronics Technician with Welch Allyn, Inc., Skaneateles; Computer Filed Service Technician, Western NY Computing Systems, Penfield and currently was Instructional Support Technician III at SUNY Cortland. He enjoyed hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, skiing, cabinetry, caring for his flower gardens and was certified in scuba diving. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea K. and Andrew J. Edwards of Rochester, a son, Stephen M. Funk of Cortland; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy Funk of Fabius, Susan and David Frye of Oxford, Laura Davis of Ann Arbor, MI, a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Donna Funk of Fabius and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his former wife, Lori B. (Andrews) Funk on May 20, 2019, and his brother David W. Funk on July 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2 pm from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, NY. Visitation will be held on Saturday from Noon to 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
