Barbara J. Cady

COLD BROOK – Barbara J. Cady, 81, of State Route 8, passed away on December 12, 2024 at home with her loving daughter Laura by her side. Mrs. Cady was born on September 4, 1943 in Utica, a daughter of the late George and Lottie (Sajdzikowski) Greiner. She graduated from Poland Central School in the class of 1961. On February 24, 1962, Barbara was united in marriage with Gerald G. Cady at Community Baptist Church, Poland. The couple ran a farm together in Newport and later in Cold Brook at her current location. In addition to working on the farm, she retired from the Oneida County Supreme Court, Utica, where she was a law clerk for over 30 years. Gerald preceded her in death on April 29, 2019. Mrs. Cady was a member of the Kuyahoora Chapter #145 O.E.S. where she held various positions throughout the years. She enjoyed bus trips with the Eastern Star, farming, traveling and spending time with her family. Barb was also a member of the Kuyahoora Community Church. Survivors include four children, Ronald (Debbie) Cady, Deborah (Donald) Kasprzyk, Laura (Richard) Maass, and Stephanie (Matthew) Beach, all of Cold Brook; a brother, Daniel Greiner of Cold Brook; thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Brittney, Tyler, Kaitlin, Brandon, Nicole, Kory, Kirstyn, Amanda, Erica, Kari, Michael and Jeremy; six great-grandchildren, Justice, Jason, Mason, Alaina, Hayden and Jack; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband of 57 years, Gerald, Barbara was predeceased by eight siblings, Robert, Ronald, Phillip, Reginald, Theodore and George Greiner, Shirley Lynch and Marilyn Vorce. Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, 7479 Main Street, Newport are Tuesday, December 17 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Dwayne Durand of the Kuyahoora Community Church, along with a ritualistic service by the Kuyahoora Chapter # 145 O.E.S. Spring interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery.
