Daniel Kazek Obituary

Boonville – Daniel M. Kazek, 83, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, on Monday October 6, 2025. He was born in Rome on March 30, 1942, a son of Matthew and Jane H. Lewicki Kazek. Daniel grew up on Mohawk Hill and graduated from Constableville High School in 1960. On July 18, 1964 he married Patricia J. Shepard at the Herkimer Trinity Episcopal Church and the couple settled in Boonville. Dan worked for Cataldo's Electric and was a TV repairman for a short time before working at Revere Copper & Brass in Rome as an electrician, retiring after 40 plus years with the company. Dan was a member of the Rome Bowling Hall of Fame and the Trinity Episcopal Church of Boonville. He was a big sports fan, a race fan, especially of dog and horse racing, and loved spending time with his family. Dan was also very fond of his guard dog, companion, and best friend, Patches. Surviving are his children, Timothy (Heather) Kazek of Canton, Robert (Tonya) Kazek of Boonville, Catherine (Jonathan ) Rookey of Port Leyden, and Sharon (Rodney) Rowsam of Boonville; 10 grandchildren, Tori (Chris) Beaman, Wanona (Adam) Measheaw, Alexandir Kazek, Cody (Alia) Kazek, Cameron (Cortney) Kazek, Dakota (Madison) Rookey, Dustin (Ashley) Rookey, Madison (Garret) Rookey, Devin (Brianna) Rowsam, and Jordon (Alyssa) Rowsam; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn (Richard) Kohl; one aunt, Irene "Sally" Croniser; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Cathy) Shepard and David (Deana) Shepard; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia on December 19, 2020. Calling hours will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. A celebration of Dan's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 3517 Rector Road, Lowville, NY.
