Dorothy Gigliotti Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy Jane "Dotty" (Perry) Gigliotti, 89, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 5, 2025, in her home, with her loving family surrounding her.
Dorothy was born in Utica, January 1, 1936, a daughter of the late Louis and Estelle (Piper) Perry. She was educated in local schools, and graduated from UFA. On July 2, 1960, Dorothy was joined in marriage to Steven Gigliotti. Steve passed away on December 26, 2016, at home, where Dorothy remained by his side and attended his every need.
A loving and devoted mother of three boys, Dotty could always be found at all of their numerous sporting events and activities throughout their childhood. She attended St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish faithfully. Dorothy worked as an Administration Secretary at the Teamsters Local Union 182, from which she retired. A meticulous homemaker, Dotty's house was always spotless and organized, although she found great pleasure in traveling with her friends, to outlets near and far, where she loved to find a "deal". She will be truly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her three beloved sons, David and Trina Gigliotti, Tom Gigliotti and Terri Gigliotti, and Robert Gigliotti and Brenda McLaughlin; six grandchildren, David Jr., Steven, Giana, Tom Jr., Joe, and Nicole Gigliotti; a sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Rich Cucharale, sister-in-law, Carol Perry; many nieces and nephews, especially her niece, Joanne Vanderwood; and her special friends and neighbors of 63 years, Carol Trinco and Beverly Melitto.
She was predeceased by her sisters and brother, Barbara and Ed Catlin, Connie and Leonard Amodio, and John Perry.
Dorothy's funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, 12 Noon, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, with interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will greet visitors as the end of mass.
The family wishes to thank her niece, Joanne for all the time she spent with their mom; and her granddaughter, Giana, for her nightly visits which meant so much to Nonnie.
